Overview of the series “Invulnerable”. “Spider-Man” meets “boys”

Overview of the series "Invulnerable". "Spider-Man" meets "boys"

The tenths were replaced by the twenties, but supernomers in colorful costumes still dominate the media space. And the more there are around the superhero, the more attempts to re -suck it, deconstruct, or at least fasten. Especially in the series – they have more to experiment. That new "Keepers" Sedlines will fall asleep to those who are familiar with the original comic book only from the film adaptation of Zach Snyder, then themselves Marvel V "Sokole and Winter Soldier" timidly try to debunk his own myth of a sinless American hero. But the most successful of the viewer is unequivocally used "Boys" , which are in a rink throughout modern pop culture.

Having groped for a gold mine, the stream service of Amazon Prime decided not to stop there, and therefore another cult postmodern comic book of the zero-filmed in the range- "Invulnerable".

Mark Grayson is almost the most ordinary American teenager. He steams because of assessments, looks at a classmate, works as part in the eatery-everything is like everyone else. However, Mark has one secret: his dad is Omni-Men, the greatest hero of the Earth. Twenty years ago, he arrived with the distant planet Viltrum to help humanity achieve a bright future, in the course of business fell in love with an earthly woman and started a family with her. And so, on the eve of adulthood, Mark finally manifests superpowers. The guy himself is delighted, his mother is also glad, albeit slightly concerned, but dad begins to behave strangely. He seems to be preparing for something. To something that no one on earth even suspects.

In a conversation about the “invulnerable” one cannot ignore the original comic book, let the original source quote to the last letter: it was written by Robert Kirkman almost twenty years ago, author "Walking dead". As in the case of the main zombie saga of the generation, he took the most battered topic in the mass culture and managed to refresh it, without inventing, in fact, nothing new. “Invulnerable” is such a summary of the superhero, a combination of the best that happened to the genre in the history of its existence. The bright, slightly angular Caria drawing of Waker refers to the silver age of the comics, when on each page there was an invasion of aliens, then the battle of the highest magicians. The action is abundantly flavored with blood, as it was fashionable in the eighties and nineties, and the characters are similar to living people – this is already the trend of zero. The main character, Mark, at one moment reflects the attack of the invaders from another measurement, and in another tries to make peace with the girl after the next missed date. Moreover, both events are given equal attention, because for Grayson it is important for both of them – this “invulnerable” is pretty reminiscent of "Spider-Man" , only twisted to the maximum. If Peter Parker, as a rule, pounds villains in the costumes of animals and tries not to upset Aunt May, then Mark deals with threats of a planetary scale and the most serious family crisis that can be imagined.

Omni-Men's relationship with his son is one of the most intriguing aspects of the series

In the comic book, the last aspect is initially shaded by jokes and carefree side adventures, but the film adaptation comes to the fore, at the same time accelerating the main plot turning. In the first series Omni-Men, the father of Mark, is dealt with the members of the local justice league so cruel that the new "Mortal Combat" in comparison, it seems to the Disney musical. Further, the whole intrigue is built around two questions: when the truth will pop up and whether humanity can overcome the invincible killer?

Yes, we have the next plot about the evil superman, but served from an unusual prospect. The superhero in the "invulnerable" is overgrown with elements of family drama, thriller and even detective. So the murder of the defenders of the Earth is investigated by the demon Damien Darkblad – a clear parody of Hellboy and Constantine, speaking in the loud voice of Clansy Brown. Step by step the devil in the coat is selected for the truth, and Debbie Grayson, the wife of Omni-Men, gradually begins to suspect something wrong. By the way, she was given much more attention than in the comic book, and this makes her inevitable tragedy more significant. In principle, the series leads the drama and horror of the situation to a completely different level compared to the original: the feeling of coming trouble lasts the whole season, and the finale proves that the foreboding was not deceived.

Although Mark called herself invulnerable, there is little superhero flanching as hard as he

It is the Omni-Men's storyline-gloomy, bloody, tense-distinguishes “invulnerable” among similar series, because otherwise it is a rather standard, albeit well-tailored superhero show. Mark Grayson is looking for himself, mastering his superpowers, and also teaches a familiar lesson about great power and great responsibility. Kwiff sister sites The first flight, the first defeat, first love – we have already seen all this more than once, but the usual program in the series has been worked out skillfully. The characters are pleasant, the dialogs are alive, the jokes are mostly successful, and the action is spectacular and brutal, the benefit of the rating of 18+ allows. True, the series can be reproached for rare, but tangible sketches of the pace. History also focuses on the new defenders of the Earth, but the culmination of their plot branch, which has been devoted for a lot of time, turns out to be completely inexpressive.

In “invulnerable” you can find a parody of almost every famous hero of comics

As for technical performance, animation may not be to taste. She is in the “invulnerable” plus or minus at the level of full-length DC cartoons, in some places worse. Three-dimensional city landscapes are cut especially the eye-in the memory, footage from the 1994 “Spider-Spider” immediately pops up. However, on those scenes that should be caused by the audience, Amazon obviously did not save: it is not enough where you can find such a detailed divided division.

But there can be no complaints about the voice acting. J.TO. Simmons is so good in the role of Omni-Men that for the sake of one series it is worth watching in the original. Star of "Walking Dead" Stephen Yang and Sandra O from "Killing Eve" They also cope perfectly, especially taking into account what emotional scenes they have to play. Well, in episodes, fans of English -speaking animation can also hear Kevin Michael Richardson and Mark Hamille with his own person.

“Invulnerable” is a rare example of a film adaptation, which is not only surpassing the source, but develops its ideas in a different, extremely successful direction. This is the flesh from the flesh of the comic book Robert Kirkman, but darker, dramatic and in some way even whole. The series does not try to cover all the superheroist at once and pays more attention to the mental torment of the characters, their relationship and development. If you are looking for trash and fuckers, as in the "boys", then there were no here even without him, but the degree of cynicism and black humor in the "uncontrollable" is much lower. After all, at the basis of his own, this is still a story about a young man who just wants to make a world better.
